Split

As far back as the year 305 the Roman emperor Dioletian, who actually had the entire known world at his feet, choose the center of Dalmatia as the place where he would build his country house and spend the last ten years of his life.

Today, the former imperial palace of Split is the historical core of Split. Split is the second largest city i Croatia, with hust a little over 200,000 inhabitants, and the eternally young, noisy and lively center for the region's tourism an economy. Split is the place that sets the rythm, style and trend to the surroundings and the smaller tourist destinations, island, coastlines and the green hinterland in the heart of Dalmatia.

Many of the historical and cultural buildings of Split can be found within the walls of Diocletian's Palace. In addition there are plenty of museums, National Theatre, old churches and other archaeological sites in the area around Split that makes Split an important cultural attraction.

From Trogir you can sail to Split - it takes approx. 2 hours and is really relaxing and cool on those hot summer days. From the Riviera in Trogir and several locations Ciovo you can see the tip of Split, looking like tall white toweres that shoots out of the water.
